Dear Precious Emersyn:
Names we call you: Emersyn, Emy, Pickle Sarah, Baby Girl
Time needs to slow down!!!!!! I want to cherish these days so much and they are just flying by!! You are quite an amazing and laid back little baby. You are starting to perk up, for example, you can't nap through your brother's noise as well as you used to, which means I can't lay you down as often as I sometimes need to!

| First day home, when everyone just got home! |
You don't really have a schedule yet. You pretty much sleep all the time. But - you do have a nap time and a bedtime. You go to bed at 9:00 pm, then you wake up at 12:30, 2:30, and 5:00 to eat. Sometimes you skip that 12:30 time. After you eat for about 15 minutes you go back into your bed and sleep until the next time! Which is amazing! Neither of your siblings actually slept in their bassinet. So you are a REALLY good sleeper in my eyes! :) Then you usually want to eat around 7 as well. Then in the morning you are awake until about 10:00 and taking everything in - then you start to get fussy because you get tired. Sometimes you nap. Then you eat usually around 11:00, and again around 12:30. Then you take a nap in your bed from 1:00-3:00. Some of these naps have been done on your belly on the couch as well. The afternoon you pretty much sleep, eat around 5:00, then you sleep all evening waking up to eat every so often. I always think that you're not going to sleep at all at night because you sleep all evening....and it makes me nervous! So, you're pretty much on a typical newborn schedule of sleeping, eating, pooping, and repeat!
Either you were destined to be a great sleeper or the Rock n' play is really magical. That is your current bed, the rock n' play. And you sleep great in it! You're so cute, I just can't get enough pictures of you sleeping! Here's a picture of you with your pink blankie and smiley pillow that your sister got for you! :)
Your sister and brother are so in love with you! Eliana wants to hold you all the time. In fact, the other day our cousin Natalia was over, so I let the girls play with you in Eliana's bedroom. You were their live baby doll while they played house!! LOL - you are such a trooper!
Eliana also will sit by you at almost every single diaper change. She gets the wipes and the diaper for me then she sits beside you to make sure you're happy! :)
The other day you were struggling to fall asleep and you fell asleep in your bouncy chair while I was getting ready in the bathroom. So, I left you in the bathroom in your chair asleep while I did some other things. Next thing I know in walks your sister holding you. She said, Emersyn was all by herself in the bathroom and she was lonely. You were still asleep so I doubt you were lonely! :) But your sister was concerned for you! Mom was just thankful you stayed asleep so I could continue to put laundry away.
Sometimes your sister loves you too much, which means she's always touching you and in your face - but your daddy always says, He guesses he'd rather have Eliana love you too much than not love you at all!
Oh this pose! This is how you were in the womb. You always hid your face - we did not get a single sonogram picture of your face! We did get a profile picture early on though.

| At your first Dance class for brother and sister! :) |
You wore newborn clothes up until you were ALMOST 4 weeks old. Then we switched you to 0-3 month clothing. You are still in newborn diapers - but only until we finish this pack and then we'll switch to size 1 diapers.
You were a bit jaundice when we left the hospital. I believe your number was almost up to 17. So we had to go back to get you checked many times. It kind of went up and down for a while (or maybe it was the different hospitals Chanute vs. Iola). We checked it:
Friday, June 17th: 12.1 level
Monday, June 20th: 14.5 level
Wednesday, June 22nd: ? level
Friday, June 24th: 11.5 level
Tuesday, June 28th: ? level
Wednesday, July 6th: 9.6 level
I'm supposed to get it done again but I haven't yet.

You are overall a happy happy baby! You're just starting to become more alert, which means you are a bit fussier at times and it also means I can't set you down as often as I need to at times. You're a fake crier! ;) Sometimes You let out a cry, that sounds fierce and like I'm going to need to pick you up - but then you stop, it's seriously just a one quick cry.
The first picture of you in your carseat is your first restaurant visit. You did great! :)
I absolutely LOVE taking pictures of you sleeping! You are so cute!!! For this first month I pretty much kept a hat on you at night because our bedroom gets pretty cold. But now the hats don't fit very well so I stopped using them. But I still swaddle you at night. You're our first baby that enjoys being swaddled. You also like your hands by your face, so sometimes you give me a questioning look when I'm swaddling you now - but it still reminds you that it's time to go to sleep! :)
Hiccups!! You have SO MANY HICCUPS! And they are BIG and you HATE them and they are painful!
Sneezing! Your daddy loves your sneezes because you sneeze like me! In threes! Three little sneezes are so cute! :)
I am shocked that your brother is still so smitten by you. Being a 2 year old boy I figured he would lose interest at some point - but he still very much loves you. Every morning and after nap you are the first one he seeks out. He has to say hi to his Pickle Sarah before he can ever say hi to his mommy!
He loves to say, "calm down Pickle Sarah, Calm down!"
He does great singing you Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when you're upset. He doesn't like it when you cry and he will come get me to help you. He doesn't ask to hold you very much - probably because I have to hold you too.
You sleep on your back during the night, because the rock n' play is at an incline so it's better for you to sleep on your back. But somedays during your nap you sleep on your tummy on the couch or mommy's bed.
You have SO many diaper changes in a day. I think you poo ALL the time! Yet, you grunt so much to poo. You've had many blow outs already! You keep me busy with laundry because you are also a spitter - which means my clothes get dirty and your clothes get dirty! I've never had a spitter before so I'm trying to figure out what makes you spit so much.....I wouldn't say wet/poopy diapers really bother you though, Unless there's a reason I don't change you in the night anymore which means you go about 10-12 hours without a diaper change.
You've also had a bit of diaper rash since the beginning. We have found that the pink cream I had to make for your sister seems to be the only thing that works for you as well.
You are also a grunter when you sleep. We're not sure if it's because you have gas, need to burp, or need to poo. But you make a lot of noise trying to settle down at night and you move your shoulders back and forth trying to work it out.
Of course your siblings have to say goodnight to you when they're going to bed! This is one of my very favorites of you and Easton!!!
You're kind of a pacifier baby. You use it at night after you have eaten so many times and you're still not sleeping and fussing - then I give you the pacifier and it tends to soothe you to sleep.
As far as eating you are a champ latcher! You had a great latch from the beginning, which I'm so thankful for! However, you don't eat as long as your brother and sister did - you eat for at the most 20 minutes, but typically shorter. But you're still getting plenty to eat, and I prefer the shorter time! :)
You just started grabbing things. Most the time it's your blanket. Mimi got us these bamboo blanket/swaddlers and I LOVE them! I knew I wanted something with lighter fabric for the summer and they're large enough I use them as nursing covers!
You're still not doing a lot. I'm really talking with you and working on getting you to engage with me but you're not quite there.
As far as thing to soothe you you don't really need soothed very often - so when you do it's typically just me holding you. But you do enjoy running water from the shower or washing machine and you seem to like to be outside.
LOVES: you LOVE to take showers - it is definitely your're favorite place! Snuggles with mommy and daddy. Your sister and brother. Your bouncy seat. Being swaddled
HATES: the air conditioner - whenever it kicks on in our bedroom it wakes you up, hiccups
Your stats:
Birth: 7 pounds 8 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long
When we left the hospital you were 6 pounds 14 ounces
Two weeks: 7 pounds 11 ounces, 50% and same length
1 month: 10 pounds!! 76% and 21 inches 43%
You're truly adorable!! And you're simply an amazing baby! You're very laid back and enjoy sleeping. You give us a quizzical look a lot and we haven't had any actual smiles. You don't mind the heat - you just sleep when we're outside. You have truly completed our family this past month and we're all absolutely in love with you!!
I hope you two always have this amazing love and bond!
Love you sweet girl!
