Dear Easton,
My, oh my, you are getting so big! You just keep growing and growing!
I love your spunk, spunk, spunk. You're still wearing 2T clothing right now. But here soon I know you'll be wearing 3T shirts, and need to wear 3T pants for length, but they won't stay up on your skinny waist.
You LOVE to color!
You're STILL not a fabulous sleeper, you wake up a couple of times a night. You want to snuggle in bed with us as much as you can, but our bed is just not quite big enough for that anymore!
Oh my goodness! You are such a dare devil! Seriously, you climb on everything and jump off of everything, you are such a boy and keep us on our toes always!
You have also become very spunky and sassy!! The year of 3 is quite a challenge at times and you make that challenge real often! But, you are learning for sure what is right and what is wrong as we continue to navigate through it!
Oh my goodness!! How goofy you are!!! lol
You love your sister SOOOO much. You love your EMY now as well. You are such a fabulous brother to both your sisters! You also fight with your big sister daily. The two of you love and hate each other! Luckily you love each other more - and you just desperately want to play and do everything your sister wants to do!
So, we noticed around Thanksgiving 2015 that you started to stutter. At the time we knew you were getting an influx of vocabulary so we thought maybe your brain was working faster than your mouth could. So we waited. Then, this past summer (2016) you started to bat at your ears and squint your eyes, along with your stutter. So, we called Children's Mercy and took you in to get a speech evaluation. We went October 10th. You passed your hearing test with FLYING colors. I should note that you stopped batting at your ears a little before we went. We started using allergy oils on you regularly, so I almost wonder if the batting is allergy related......
Then we went for your speech evaluation, and we learned two things. ONE: We learned that you are VERY VERY bright! I mean, of course we thought you were smart - but oh my goodness! You are so bright. You are observant and see and hear everything. (This continues to be the case as you continue to grow). I was simply amazed at what all you knew! 2. You do, indeed, have a speech stutter. So, after that we went back to Iola and got you evaluated by our school district and they also agreed you were incredible smart but could benefit from some speech services. So, you began speech class twice a week. You have made incredible gains since starting and we've all been very pleased. Your speech teacher also says you are incredibly smart!
You are now potty trained!!!! hip hip hooray! We tried at the beginning of summer but you just weren't quite ready - but in August you were ready to try! The hardest part was you like to GO-GO-GO and to potty train you have to stop and sit-sit-sit.....which you didn't always like. BUT
Potty Training Boot Camp Day 1, August 4, 2016: Your potty training boot camp started today. We put you to bed and of course you came out of your room because you had to go potty. After a few minutes of you sitting there doing nothing....
Daddy: Are you going to go potty buddy?
Easton: YEAH, I AM DAAAAD! Don't talk to me right now. (With A TON of sass)
Daddy: OKay, SORRRY!
It was really funny - you might of had to be there though. But, we had 3 potty accidents today, 1 poo success, and 2 potty successes - I think that is a great day 1!
Potty Training Boot Camp Day 2: Potty training boot camp day 2 starts with Easton waking up and dragging his potty chair into our room announcing he needs to go potty!
Potty Training Boot Camp Day 3: Today ended with you refusing to go to bed because you needed to go potty. I don't think you really needed to go you just wanted a treat. So you came out of your room 3 times when you were supposed to be sleeping. After you were quiet for 30 minutes I went in to check on you and you were asleep - yay!! An hour later, you waddle out naked from the waist down -"I went potty!!" (we had put the potty chair in your room in hopes you would quit coming out of your room) - Sure enough you had gone potty in the potty chair!! Then, in your half asleep state you asked, I get a cookie now??
So, luckily potty training went fairly easy for you! Once you were really ready! :)
There's something about a sleeping boy..... :)
Your vocabulary is huge now - when I ask you how your day was you tell me it was GREAT or AMAZING! I love it! :) And of course you have started the WHY game......why, why, why......AH!!!
LOL
Look at you, SUCH a big boy!! -- You typically wake up around 6:30 in the morning. Play and go 100 miles an hour until nap time. You really only nap at daycare now, on the weekends we typically push through and keep playing instead of nap, because then you guys go to bed so much easier (and earlier). Then on typical nights you go to bed around 7:30.
You got one of your best titles this year too!! BIG BROTHER! You are absolutely smitten and in LOVE with you baby sister!!! I LOVE IT!!
Books!! We LOVE to read books! I love that you love to read books!!
You are still obsessed with sports and sports balls. You really love soccer and basketball. And you're now in love with fruit loops! you would eat them for dinner every night if I let you!
And performing with your big sister is one of your favorite past times!
Sweet, 3 year old, Easton. How I love you so! Even when you're your extra ornery 3 year old self!! I love you so much and I look forward to watching you grow and learn this year!!!
I love you,
Mommy
