Dear Eliana and Easton,
We are getting along great! It has been two weeks since Easton was born. We've been so lucky because your daddy was able to spend the last two weeks at home with us! We really enjoyed the family time. So, what did we do during that first week home together? We ate, slept, changed diapers, and played...oh! And restarted potty training...
When we left the hospital, Thursday, September 26, it was a gorgeous day...great weather! We got home and your daddy went to walmart to get a few groceries. Then Eliana came home from grandma and grandpa's! We were finally all home! :)
I was feeding Easton when Eliana arrived home...so she got her baby doll and fed her too! Miss Eliana, you are a fabulous big sister and will be a wonderful mommy some day!!,
The next morning we opened some presents!!
You both look pretty tired!
Eliana was so excited for the new minnie book she got from her brother!
And new dora jammies!
Yum! Easton also got you animal crackers! :)
"Thanks baby brother!"
Easton's turn to open his gift from Eliana!
He got a new stacker toy and cute baseball outfit!
During the first week we have tried to make sure Eliana still got lots of play time with us. So while Easton napped, mommy and Eliana played in the sandbox.
Lots of napping going on in our house!
How Eliana has adapted to the change:
You (Eliana) love your baby brother! You constantly want to give him kisses and you ask to hold him every so often. Every morning you get out of bed and come crawl into bed with us. Typically by this time Easton is in my arms. For the first seven days of this you would get so excited and almost surprised that baby brother was still here! You say hi, hi, hi, and give him tons of kisses!
One morning I was really tired, and you got up early, so I gave you the iPad and you watched your shows while Easton and I slept. You were so content and happy, you just sat there and held Easton's hand, and about every five minutes you would lean over and give him a kiss! It was so sweet!
For the first few days every time we would change his diaper you had to help too! You would try to soothe Easton, and when it didn't work you would put your hands on your ears and say "too loud...too loud!" :) your job has also been to throw away the dirty diapers...you like to throw them away in our diaper genie.
You have done a pretty good job adapting to the fact that mommy has to feed Easton all the time. You have only had one jealous moment, one time I was feeding Easton on the couch, and you wanted to lay down with us, but there was no room...you were upset then.
You also completely regressed in potty training. You seriously went from completely potty trained to zero success! So, we went back to how we potty trained you, by setting the alarm and having potty parties! I'm happy to say that after four days of that...you have finally started to tell us when you have to go...BEFORE you go! So you're improving! :)
We had some visitors...most bring gifts...so Eliana has enjoyed opening all the presents!
All about Easton:
The first week you were very chill. And happy. Week two you have been a little more fussy but not bad. We don't know if you're more fussy because of the casts or just because you're a baby...
You are a stinker...you tend to fall asleep when you eat which means you're still hungry 30 minutes later!
You are content and sleep most the morning and afternoon...only waking up to eat. You are fussy and not content in the evening. Since you slept all day all you want in the evening is to eat, literally the entire time!
You nap really well in your swing. You seem to like to sleep on your side. Our water bill is going to be high, because you like the sound of rushing water. You also enjoy the nice fall weather. Many evenings we would go watch sister play outside, because you would stop crying and just listen to the outdoors. It's gotten a tad chilly now, and you are not as much a fan when it's cold.
Your umbilical cord fell off on Saturday, October 5. Your belly button is so cute! :)
This was Easton's first rainstorm! As for daddy and Eliana....well, we can only keep a two year old inside for so long, so they went puddle jumping at the church.
Rebekkah and Jami came to visit our first weekend home! Elijah had croup, so he had to stay home.
Rebekkah was very excited to meet Easton!
You girls are so excited to have another little boy to torture ;)
Eliana loves to hold Easton's hand!
Aunt Jami was very happy to finally meet Easton!
The Scott's came over for dinner one night! Hard for us to believe we have four kids between us!!
Jenna and Joe Ahmadian came to meet Easton too! Eliana had a blast playing with them,
So, overall, it has been a great first and second week of being a family of four! Daddy goes back to work this week...but since he's working evenings we are just all going to troop down to Iola so we can see him as much as possible!
Until there are more adventures....
Love,
Mommy
**i hope I caught most of the typos....I'm really tired and I'm typing on the iPad....
