Grandpa Great Regehr

Your grandpa great passed away on November 26. He was an amazing man and we will all miss him.
Look at how proud grandpa was of your daddy....he knew no such thing as an in-law....only family

Oh, grandpa great loved you kids so much. He was always so happy to hear he was going to have another great grandchild! This picture is of grandpa great meeting Eliana for the first time.

Grandpa was a very sentimental man...he teared up easily...a trait he passed on to many of his grandkids. We joke quite often about how grandpa passed his easy to cry trait on to us....it will be interesting to see if either of you have that trait too.

Grandpa was 87 years old, he was always full of life he just knew he was going to live until he was 100. He fought through many things...heart surgery, cancer, diabetes, but he fought hard and lived through it all.

Grandpa always did whatever his grand kids wanted. He would take a break from his work to play games with us. He would visit with us and tickle us.

Grandpa made the decision to sell his and grandma's home while he was still young enough to do it.

Us grandkids helped him move his office. He was always in this office. That is the first place I went when we got to their house.

Grandpa was so proud of all his kids and grandkids. He was at all his grandkids college graduations!

At my wedding rehearsal

Grandpa collected lots of things....but his favorite were license plates. He had walls and walls of license plates!

One of my favorite pictures!

The VAR tag behind Eliana is grandpa's initials. Virgil Andrew Regehr, Easton, you were almost named Andrew, but it just didn't quite fit when you were born, but we went to the hospital about 75% sure you would be named Andrew ;)
The tag is also from his birthday month, April.
I hope to someday inherit this tag.

Grandpa loved his overalls, so we couldn't pass up a chance for you all to wear overalls!

You kids loved riding on grandpa's walker! We were lucky enough to go to church with grandpa, so after church you would all rush to get rides!

You working away in grandpa's office

This is just a great photo of uncle Andrew and grandpa and grandma!

This was at the mcc sale. Grandpa always sat at the same spot in the auction...right up front so we could find him!

Grandpa and grandma came to both of Eliana's birthday parties...even though they were in Ottawa!

One of our many many meals with grandpa!

Grandpa and grandma came to meet Easton...just weeks before he went to hospice house.

Eliana was super excited to see grandpa!

Grandpa was so happy to meet Easton. Easton, He felt so bad that you have to go through your treatment. Grandpa was a sentimental man, and he had tears in his eyes as he told you that you were strong and would get through your treatment like a champ!

Love this!

A week before hospice house we saw grandpa at Rebekkah's birthday.

Our last visit with grandpa was November 9. I will never forget the HUGE smile grandpa got on his face  when we walked in! His eyes just lit up! He immediately wanted to see and hold Easton! Grandpa made Easton smile SO big! Easton and grandpa would have been best buds!

Grandpa told both Easton and Eliana that he loved them very much! He held both of their hands and had a wonderful good bye.

After the kids left, I sat in grandpa's room for a while. I realized that Easton has grandpa's eyes. Easton's eyes are a deep, dark blue, sometimes I think they might be a gray or purple color. (Which I know is weird...no such thing as purple eyes). I told grandpa that Easton has his eye color, and grandpa said, dark blue? I said yep!
When it was time to go we told grandpa that Jami and I were going to have some girl time and go shopping..he said, better you than me! Grandpa was the jokester to the end!
I gave grandpa a hug and told him I loved him. He responded with, I love you too.

I had a wonderful last visit with my grandpa, and I am so glad I went. Grandpa made a turn for the worst that night, so I'm very thankful we went when we did.
Grandpa died September 26, your Mimi and grandma-great were with him.

You are very lucky to have this guy as your grandpa great! He leaves a legacy of friendliness, service, and love. We will miss you tons grandpa. We love you!
