Christmas Break pt 1: Iola

Ever since your daddy and I have been married we spend all of Christmas break out at our parents.  I think this started because we met in college, and since the dorms close for break, we went home. Then, when we got married we continued to go home because your daddy had just finished school and i still had the break, being a teacher. This year we spent 6 days in Iola, and 7 days in Ottawa. It is getting harder to be away for that long though....especially with two kids. So I imagine next year will be shorter....we will see.

So, we started in Iola on the Friday school ended. We all drove right down because daddy had to work that evening. It was a pretty calm time because no one else came from out of town...which meant our little family was able to take over three rooms...yes, we require three rooms. One room where mommy, daddy, and Easton slept, one room where Eliana slept, and one room where I was able to lay out all of our clothing!! :)

That first night we were home it snowed! So pretty...Eliana, you and grandma and I stood at the window and watched! So Saturday was incredibly cold, but you wanted to go out and play SO bad! So, you and grandpa bundled up and headed out to play. It was so cold, you guys brought the swing in for me to clean the ice off of it so you could swing! Crazy! But fun. When you got back in you guys took a nice nap! :)

Grandpa always makes delicious sugar Cookies, and Eliana got to help this year! You did so good! You were focused and listened! :)

You might have been a smidge dirty when you were done...but your grandpa says: "we don't need no stinkin apron!" :)  you were so so proud of your cookies! :)

Of course we can't leave this cutie out. Easton, you learned you love patty cake! :) oh my gosh, I can hear your little chuckles every time I look at these photos! :)

On Sunday, we had the higginbotham family Christmas over at cousin Cindy's house.
We thought this. Was cute of the two daddies and babies :)

Eliana thought she should be in the photo too.

At first Ellie and Easton thought they should sleep through the party....

Easton, you slept all through lunch and wanted to sleep longer....but I woke you up for presents, or you just might have slept the entire time we were there :)

When we announced it was present time Eliana was ready.. But the Ellie needed her diaper changed so w had to wait. Eliana did a good job bing patient....but it was hard. She did finally grab a present and slowly, oh so slowly tore it open while she waited.

Ellie and Easton are excited for presents too...

Cousin picture. :)
Easton, you spit up big time on your moose outfit! But you were happy to be in just a onesie! You were made to be naked and play in the warm weather...you're not too sure about this cold stuff :)
You were also snuggling with your new ku blanket from great aunt Rhonda!

Daddy and mommy enjoying the kiddos

Monday everyone had to go to work...so we had a nice morning just the three of us. We got out Eliana's new play dough toy! :)

On Christmas Eve, we took family photos. Everyone did a good job! :) we did bribe Eliana with a sucker..but we got some good pictures :)

Pretty girl with the snowmen

And then we took a few photos on our own... Eliana was the photographer too ;)

Eliana took the pictures of the Aikins family :)

Silly faces :)

This was the only picture we got of the four of us dressed up...but that's okay :)

Easton you were so adorable in your outfit. But, your outfit was a hand-me-down from Elijah, (Eliana's dress was from Rebekkah....we are so glad Aunt Jami shares your cousin' scoot he's with us! :)) but the tag was cut out of Easton's outfit. And I woke up on Christmas Eve thinking,...what if it's a newborn and doesn't fit....? Well...we think it was a newborn because it was ROUGH getting you in it! So, I thought, well, we will just leave you in it all day....you pooped all over it right after pictures (thankfully you waited for after pictures). So, we washed it and you wore it to church that night. We could BARELY button it, so I just buttoned one. Then, during church you pooped and wew were sitting in the front, because the pastor wanted ALL kids up there for the Christmas story. So I'm trying everything to keep you happy and I'm just hoping the fact that your outfit is too small isn't causing the poo to come out of your diaper! As soon as we were done we booked it to the bathroom...which by the way we also did not pack any wipes!! Luckily your cousin Ellie shared! :) so, needless to say, I love your outfit, but it was the only day you wore it ;)

The jeans were your size ;)

Our family at the end of the night. I laid Easton on the floor and Eliana was being sweet....then, she put her finger down your throat which resulted in you up chucking all over your dad...so both of you are in different clothes! Has to always be an exciting time!

When we got home we wrote Santa a note and left him cookies. This was Eliana's first year to do this, and I was just as excited as you! You wrote to Santa asking for a present....nothing specific....just a preset :) then we went and got his cookies and milk. We put it all under the tree...then you quickly needed to add "say hi to the reindeer" on the bottom of your note.

Then you thought you heard Santa. So, I said, we better go to bed then because Santa can't come if we are awake. You quickly said good night and we headed to bed. Every noise you heard you would sit up and say, I hear Santa. :) it was very precious. You finally fell asleep.

When you woke up in the morning you went downstairs and snuggled on ether couch for a little bit. Then you hopped down and headed in to the tree. You got there and you put both hands ion your hips and you said...Santa clause ate my cookies!! As you stomped your foot. You were so upset he ate your cookies and milk..you clearly wanted it for yourself! You finally noticed your books and stickers...but they weren't entertaining enough to forget about the cookies! :)

Ellie then came over and the three of you were ready to open presents!

Easton was clearly excited.... :) since he fell asleep....but you did a good job opening all your gifts :)

Daddy and Easton in their new jayhawk hats!

The Higginbotham family

You stole uncle G's new chair to do a little catching up on the news :) and uncle G had a concerned face because he put Easton to sleep right before we were going to put him in the car for a 2.5 hour drive!! :)

We had a wonderful few days before Christmas and a wonderful Christmas morning. We are so blessed by our family! Then it was time to get in the car and head to our next location. So we ex drove off....you and Easton holding hands, while you slept and he talked....eventually cried most the way to Buhler!
