Easton's Journey: Club Feet

You have officially been in your brace for a year! Ironically, your brace check up landed on the DAY you got your brace a year ago. November 6.
Here you are November 6, 2013. About to remove your last cast and get your brace!

Here you are November 6, 2014. Checking out your feet progress!

It was different being in the waiting room this time. You walked around, played with the toys, climbed up on the chairs, and had lots of fun. It was fun to watch your eyes, you seemed to really take in the waiting room and the awesome Children's Mercy murals on the walls. You were nearly in awe. The wait didn't seem too long and then we went back to the room. Our nurse, Leland, was there too! Which was really neat to see, because we saw him at everyone of your appointments a year ago.

Dr. Jarka came in and you were so hungry at that point, we had started to feed you applesauce. So we fed you while she looked at your feet. You were NOT a fan of having your feet played with. Even daycare has said when they do crafts where they paint your feet you are NOT a fan, but if they're painting your hands you like it. But Dr. Jarka looked at your feet and said they look great. She said you have good dorsiflexion (the flexing upward in your ankle) which is what she's keeping an eye on. She said your feet didn't seem to be turning inward at all, which I had noticed the toes were curling inward. But she said that was normal baby feet....which I had jokingly said to your daddy that your sister's feet did the same but I wasn't obsessively looking at her feet like I am yours! :)

Overall, you're doing a fabulous job! We couldn't be more happy with how great you responded to treatment and how great you are doing! :) And I CANNOT believe how much you grew in a year and how different the two above photos are!!!

Yay, for perfect feet!!

We're still working on getting you to sleep with your new brace. You started to sleep really well....for about a week you did, with your new brace. And then this week you decided to fight me again. What you do is wake up in the night (100 times!!) and you just kick and kick and kick your feet trying to get those boots off. I was sick this week so I gave in and took them off Monday and Tuesday night. Then Wednesday night I fought you...and when you would wake up and cry and kick I just told you we're keeping them on, and we did until 5!! And than Thursday you did better...still whined a little in the night but overall did better. So hopefully tonight is even better!! Bubba, you HAVE to wear those shoes and brace to keep your feet lookin so good!! :)
So glad you're doing good!!

I love you little man!
